The very first sentence sets out the essence of the proposal „The young manager of the year 2009” namely, that only such persons can participate who have a significant role in their company’s management.
In 2009, the National Manager Association has announced for the 10th time the award for „The Young Manager of the Year” (the organizations announcing: Joint Venture Association, the Hungarian Banking Association, the Manager Foundation, the Management Forum, the Organisation and Management Science Society, the World-economy and the assistance of Mr Demján’s Foundation)
The winner of „The Young Manager of the Year” is Mr. Tibor David, CEO of Masterplast Group Zrt.
In the past 10 years, the jury has not seen such a young candidate who’s got it all: business aptitude, knowledge of the theoretical and practical application of leadership, commitment to innovation. Well, Tibor David certainly has what it takes. With a handful of staff, the then 22-year old youngster has started his business in 1997, dealing with wholesale of building material and generating a revenue of 132 000 EUR in the first year alone. The jury highlighted David Tibor’s and Masterplast’s strategic commitment. Behind the succesful strategy lies the recognation - which incidentally is still guiding the company- that even to the smallest customers such high quality product and service must be provided which previously could have been received only by the largest. This customer oriented approach and flexibility has allowed the company - which started out as a small business- to be present in 16 countries now, for instance. China, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina or Ukraine.
With its more than a thousand products, Masterplast provides cost and energy efficient solutions in the areas of heat-sound and water insulation, roofing and dry constraction. The company employs over 700 employees and the group’s turnover in 2008 amounted to 113 million euros. With good innovative sense, David Tibor has seen the opportunities and market gaps in building material trade. Teamwork and familiar atmosphere has always been a basic value for Masterplast and the young manager pays special attention to preserve and to enhance it. The strenght of the management’s team beside Mr. Tibor is the vocation to common creation. On top and middle management level there is virtually no turnover, David Tibor is working with the same people who started at the time of foundation.
